The role of the crematory operator encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including operating the retort, processing and packaging cremated remains for humans.
The working hours for this position are Monday-Friday from 10am-6:
30pm, with every other weekend off.
Duties & Responsibilities for human crematory operations:
Operate the retort, ensuring the proper functioning of the equipment.
Process and package cremated remains with utmost care and attention to detail.
Monitor equipment closely, making necessary adjustments as required.
Clean and maintain cremation equipment, including machines responsible for processing cremains into powder.
Adhere to safety procedures to protect oneself and others from exposure to hazardous materials or dust particles.
Report any issues or concerns to the crematory manager promptly.
Deliver urns to various funeral homes.
Communicate effectively with other funeral homes and grieving families.
Skillfully engrave urns.
Pay close attention to detail while filling out paperwork.
Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Education, Training &
Qualifications:
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Hold a valid driver's license.
Obtain cremation certification within 2 months of being hired.

Working Conditions:
Regularly engage in physical activities such as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions.
Lift and move objects weighing 100 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Experience elevated noise levels as part of the working environment.
Work in conditions with elevated heat levels.
